Mouthguards

Mouthguards are an essential piece of kit for keeping hockey safe.

GHC parents/guardians are asked to provide a mouthguard for their children during training and matches.

There are a few different options including those for purchase online or in a shop: generic plastic or the boil-and-bite products that mould to the shape of the mouth. Custom-fitted mouthguards are also an option.

GHC are pleased to continue working with Top Guards who provide state of the art, custom fitted mouth guards which should last for the whole year.

How are custom-fitted mouthguards made?

Top Guards dental technicians take digital scans of your mouth (no foul-tasting putty moulds), from which the mouthguards are hand made by qualified dental technicians.

The process is overseen by GDC registered dentists.

The digital scans are a very simple process and take about four minutes per person.

What if my child’s teeth are still growing?

When the digital scans are taken for children, details are noted as to which teeth are coming through and the mould that is created will make allowances for this growth.

What are the advantages of a Top Guards custom fitted mouthguard?

Top Guards mouthguards offer a superior level of protection; they are a bespoke fit, comfortable to wear, attractively coloured, and have the benefit of allowing the wearer to speak normally.

Can I choose what colour I would like and can I have my name on it?

The mouthguard can be made in a variety of colours will have your name incorporated into it and comes in a case which is also clearly labelled with your name.

If you lose your mouthguard, it will be possible to order a replacement at a reduced price as Top Guards retain the mould that has been made from the impression for six months afterwards.

What if I am having orthodontic treatment?

If you are having orthodontic treatment with fixed braces, permission will be required from the orthodontist before making a custom- fitted guard, so that it does not interfere with the treatment in any way. Wires fixed behind the teeth after treatment are fine.

How much does it cost?

£80 – single colour

£85 – multi colour / single colour with GHC logo (or a school or other logo if you like)
