Guildford Hockey Club is recognised by and registered with HMRC as a CASC - a Community Amateur Sports Club. This is similar to a charity but with the focus on delivering amateur sports to the local community. The benefits to us include relief on business rates, no corporation tax liability, and the ability to claim Gift Aid on certain contributions and donations to the club. More importantly it also gives us access to certain funds and grants not otherwise available to non-charities.
